Residents' assemblies (Bürgerversammlungen)
Each of Munich's 25 districts holds a residents' assembly, convened by the Oberbürgermeister together with the district's Bezirksausschuss and chaired by a city councillor. It is the most direct way for residents to put an issue on the city's agenda.
How an evening runs (example: district 7, 8 October 2026)
- 18:00 to 19:00, Q&A hour (Bürgersprechstunde): staff of city departments (Baureferat, Mobilitätsreferat, KVR district inspection, health department, the local Sozialbürgerhaus), the MVG, the tenants' council, police and the BA chair answer questions.
- From 19:00: the chair and the BA chair report on key topics. In district 7 (Sendling-Westpark) the announced topics were a youth centre, the Kulturbürgerhaus on Westendstraße, a kiosk and beer garden, cycling conflicts in the Westpark, and the Siegenburger Straße sports ground.
- Motions and questions must be made in person and handed in in writing (form at muenchen.de/buergerversammlung).
- Voting: residents of the district vote on motions; bring an official photo ID to receive a voting card.
Adopted motions are displayed at the district committees' office and then handled by the city council or the Bezirksausschuss. Sign-language interpretation is provided; there is an explanation in easy language.
Finding dates
The open data portal publishes the dates (dataset "Bürgerversammlungen - Termine"), and the city announces each one in the Rathaus Umschau. The motions and recommendations of past assemblies are open data too.
